The new Marks & Spencer store in Newry will open to the public this Thursday offering customers an extensive choice of merchandise across its clothing, homeware and food hall departments.
Extending to 30,000 sq ft, the store is located at the Quays Shopping Complex, its opening marking a new beginning for the leading retailer as it relocates from the Buttercrane Centre. M&S says the relocation means customers will benefit from ample convenient and accessible car parking and extended opening hours.
Incorporating the famous M&S Food Hall, stocking more than 5,000 food and drink products, its popular ‘Collect in Store’ and ‘Food to Order’ services will continue.
The opening will take place at 10am on Thursday 1st February.
Store Manager, Siobhan Ruck, is from the local area, and is looking forward to welcoming customers when the store opens for trading at 10am on Thursday.
“As a local girl, I am committed to working with residents and customers to make a difference locally and am keen to continue to work in partnership with local businesses to deliver a vibrant shopping experience at our new store,” she said.
The move also marks the end of an era for six of the firm’s employees who first began working in the Buttercrane thirty years ago, initially for Wellworths before M&S took over the store. Glenda Meehan, Dorothy Taylor, Geraldine Magee, Bee Trainor, Alicia Devine and Caroline Quinn have already amassed a combined 180 years knowledge of the retail trade and look forward to continuing from their new modern premises.
The new M&S store opening hours are 8am until 9pm, Monday to Friday, with 8am until 8pm on Saturdays and traditional Sunday trading hours, from 1pm to 6pm.
