Police have appealed for information on an incident during which a lady aged in her 80s was confronted by two intruders who entered her Forkhill home.
The incident occurred around 5pm on Mother’s Day, Sunday 26th March at the property on the Church Road.
Revealing the details, Detective Constable Skillen of the PSNI said: “Once inside, the men spoke to the woman whilst moving through several rooms looking through drawers and cupboards. They stayed in the house for around five minutes before leaving via the front door. Nothing is believed to have been taken at this time and the woman was not injured by the men.”
The intruders are described as being around 5’10” tall and aged in their 20s.
Police are carrying out an investigation and ask for anyone who noticed suspicious activity in or around the Church Road area on the day in question, to contact them in Ardmore on 101 quoting reference number 912 26/03/17.
Sinn Fein councillor Mickey Larkin condemned those responsible and said the community is disgusted at the incident.
“Crimes of this nature are abhorrent at any time, but to prey on the elderly in the community on Mother’s Day shows that there are no depths to which these criminals will sink in order to line their pockets. Residents have already been in contact with the police providing information which I hope will lead to those responsible being apprehended,” he said.
