A Memorial Mass was held this morning (Monday) in St. Malachy’s Church, Carrickcruppen to mark the passing of Camlough-born priest, Fr. Patrick McCullough.
Fr. Pat died unexpectedly on Tuesday last, March 14th in Wellington, New Zealand, his adopted home where he spent most of his life in ministry.
Despite living on the opposite side of the world, he was very well known in his native village and enjoyed a close rapport with both young and old, many of whom recall pleasant memories of his regular visits home.
Approaching his 80th birthday, Fr. Pat remained an active traveller and had planned to visit relations in New York later this year, before returning to Ireland to spend the summer with his family here.
His funeral Mass and burial took place in Lower Hutt, New Zealand on Monday. He is survived by his brother Sean, sisters Rosemarie McParland and Margaret Loy, nephews, nieces and extended family circle, to whom deepest sympathy is extended.
