A Mayobridge teenager has appeared in court accused of killing his two friends by careless driving.
Brian Che Kane, from St Anne’s Park, is charged with causing the deaths of Eoin Farrell and James Miskelly, both seventeen, by driving carelessly on the Kilbroney Road in Rostrevor on September 14th last year.
The three friends were travelling in a car being driven by Kane when he crashed into the wall of a house, the impact causing a nearby oil tank to catch fire. He was seriously hurt in the crash while his two friends sustained injuries, which proved fatal.
At Wednesday’s court hearing, Mr Kane was offered the opportunity to comment on the charges or call witnesses on his behalf but he declined to do so.
He was released on continuing bail and ordered to appear before Newry Crown Court on 13th December for his arraignment.
