Scissor Sister Hair, Beauty and Wig Rooms have made the cut once again, scooping yet another industry award, this time for Hairdressing Salon of the Year at the prestigious Ulster Tatler Awards.
The glittering awards ceremony, held in Belfast City Hall last Thursday night celebrated the achievements of Northern Ireland individuals and businesses with last week’s event also marking 50 years since the first edition of the magazine hit the shelves of local newsagents.
The Camlough based hair and beauty salon joined the cream of Northern Ireland’s business and celebrity world on the night, with everyone from Jimmy Nesbitt to footballing legend Gerry Armstrong honoured at the event.
Speaking to The Examiner about the latest accolade for Scissor Sister Hair, Beauty and Wig Rooms, proprietor Maria Kelly paid tribute to her entire team and said they were delighted to have made the shortlist to eventually be crowned Ulster Tatler’s Hairdressing Salon of the Year. Maria explained that the salon’s Snapchat feed helped to clinch the award for the team, with Scissor Sister commended for the positive use of its social media profile which shares motivational, uplifting quotes and affirmations on a daily basis, as well as tutorials and tips. The unique selling point was recognised as novel way of “using feelings to promote business” and the salon was also congratulated on its range of wigs and hairpieces for cancer patients and recognised for its ongoing contract with the Little Princess Trust to provide wigs for children suffering from hair loss.
Hairdressing with a heart seems to be at the centre of Scissor Sister’s business ethos and proud owner Maria was quick to thank her wonderful team, clients, family and friends for voting for the salon and “making this award possible.”
“We were delighted to have made it into the top five salons in Northern Ireland so to walk away with the overall salon of the year title with an award winning magazine is just fantastic!” said Maria.
“Our team is simply amazing, they really are one in a million. I am so grateful to everyone for their ongoing support and love.”
